Methods and methodology of archaeological research

Serhii Hamchenko has made a significant contribution to the development of methods and methodology of archaeological research. His field studies were distinguished by diligence, attention to detail, fixation, and the quality of the discovered monuments processing and individual artifacts. In 1925 there was published an important methodological publication of the researcher “Archaeological sources, methods of their registration and means of protection.” In his daily archaeological work, S. Hamchenko repeatedly stressed the need for detailed development and clarification of basic archaeological categories and concepts. The personal fund contains many drafts, notes, manuscripts of reports on the understanding of the terms “search”, “reconnaissance”, “prospecting”, “excavations”, the wording of the Archaeological Excavations Permit letters and etc.
